Autumn is my favourite season to visit Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland. The national park glows with golden colours and, with a bit of luck, the weather makes it magical. This was already our second visit, at the exact same late-October weekend as last year, and the once again, the weather did not disappoint.
You can see photos from our first trip here. This time, we repeated our favourite full-day hike in Saxon Switzerland and added a few new, shorter stops on the Czech side of the park, which fit nicely into the itinerary.

Saxon Switzerland - Full Day Hike to Schrammsteine
Hiking to Schrammsteine is challenging but worth it. There are several routes, but expect at least 15 km. Last time we did a longer version (~20 km); this year, having already experienced it, we decided to take it slower.

We parked at Ostrauer Parkplatz (a large lot, €5 per day).
After about 4 km the adventure begins: climbing ladders to Schrammsteinaussicht. This viewpoint is a must, it opens up to dramatic rock formations. Be careful, though, the steps are narrow and steep, crowded with people, and not always protected by handrails.

From there, the trail continues along higher ridges, with spectacular views over the park. It’s hard to watch your step when your eyes are glued to the scenery!

Bohemian Switzerland - Tisá Rocks (CZ: Tiské stěny)
Our first stop on the Czech side was Tisá Rocks, a sandstone rock town. The loop walk is about 5 km (under 2 hours). It’s an easy, relaxed walk, perfect for a snack break and enjoying the views.

After a few steps and ladders, the second part opens to panoramas over the surrounding hills and towns. Compared to other hikes in the park, this one is more chill, family-friendly, and a good detour on the way further into the national park. Beautiful, but if you’re looking for a real challenge, there are better trails.

The park is flexible: you can walk straight up to the viewpoints for a short visit, or spend more time wandering deeper paths.

For me, the light and golden colours were everything.

Belveder Viewpoint in Bohemian Switzerland
On our way to the overnight stop, we made a detour to Belveder Viewpoint to watch the sunset. A quick but stunning stop. Enjoy the view, then move on.

Finally
As autumn settles in, we'll definitely head back to Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland.
More photos soon!
bye bye ♡
