I've been living in Brno for the past 10 years. Sounds like a lot, and it is!
I've experienced so much here: my university studies, my first jobs, and building true friendships ♡
I must have hiked every trail around Brno, especially during the COVID lockdowns. Since my time here marks a good anniversary, I decided to share my favourite spots in Brno for hiking, walking, good coffee or simply wandering around the city ☺︎
P.S. I've included some older photos - some are a few years old and may not be the best quality, but bear with me!

Two Classic Routes That I Never Get Tired Of
Kraví Hora - Wilson Forest Park - Žlutý kopec
This one is truly my favourite! It's perfect for starting with a good cup of coffee and ending at Kraví hora.
Coffee spots to check out - Kafé Friedrich (great coffee and yummy vegan cakes), Buchta B (delicious vegan breakfasts and brunches).
At Kraví hora, you can visit free exhibitions at the Observatory and Planetarium or explore the outdoor telescopes. I always headed here for sunsets - on clear days, you can even see as far as Pálava in South Moravia. In summer, there's a planet festival with fascinating lectures and actual planets.

This route is worth visiting in any season. Autumn brings an explosion of colours, and once I even caught a magical fog.
From Kraví hora, you can continue to Wilson Forest Park or Žlutý kopec.

Lužánky Park - Brno City Centre - Petrov Hill - Špilberk Castle
Lužánky Park is probably the most crowded park in Brno, as it's close to the city centre. From here, you can easily walk to the main city squares: Svoboďák (Freedom Square) and Zelňák (Vegetable Market Square).
Ice cream tip - try Božský kopeček if you spot it!
Two viewpoints worth visiting are Petrov Hill and Špilberk Castle.
While in the city centre, here are some vegan recommendations - vegan croissants at William Thomas Bakery, coffee at Skog café or Mitte café.

Pieces of Nature in Brno
You’ve probably guessed by now that I’m not much of a city girl (except for the coffee). Naturally, I’ve spent a lot of time in nature.
Here’s my list of escapes when city life gets overwhelming:
1 Červený kopec - Anthropos - Coffee at QB Coffee Roasters
A lovely walk along the river, ending with coffee at a local roastery!

2 Obora Holedná
Perfect for sunrises and sunsets, especially from the newly built lookout tower. It's especially breathtaking in autumn (I know, I say that a lot). Bonus: there are animals to spot!

3 Kohoutovice - Koniklecová louka
I once walked all of these spots in one go - it was around 20 kilometres! If you’re up for a challenge, it’s definitely worth it.

4 Hády - Velký Hornek - Mariánské údolí
Hády is incredible for sunsets and stargazing. Each season offers something unique. During spring, everything is green. During summer, there are warm evenings and clear skies. And during autumn, there are vibrant colours everywhere.

5 Prýgl (Brno Reservoir)
Best enjoyed with a bike, swimsuit, or an interest in history at Veveří Castle. This area has something for everyone in every season!

6 Bílá hora - Stránská skála
An island of peace within the city. Don’t miss this spot for the most stunning sunsets in Brno ☺︎

Finally
There are many places I have not mentioned:
Ostrá Horka, Chrlice, Zamilovaný hájek, Soběšice, Bobrava, and the list goes on...
Beyond Brno, you’ll find even more hiking trails and locations, especially in the south (Pálava) or north (Moravian Karst). But that’s a story for another post! ☺︎
bye bye ♡
