In May 2023, me and my best friend went to see Tyrol for the first time. And it was definitely not the last.
The landscapes were just stunning. Hey, you'll see.

Seebensee, Igelsee, Drachensee
On day one, we planned a hike to see the two most famous lakes in North Tyrol - Seebensee and Drachensee.
Usually, the hike starts in Ehrwald where you take a cable car up to Ehrwalder Alm and then start hiking. However we arrived just one week before the season opening and realized the cable car is not operating. There were workers still repairing and rebuilding the cable car. So since we already were there, we hiked up anyway - and it was painful ☺︎
On our way up, we saw a crossroad to hike to Igelsee. It was a tiny hidden lake but very beautiful.

Hiking up to Seebensee, the terrain started to be very rough with tons of snow everywhere. Sometimes half of my body sank into the snow but we didn't give up and were rewarded with amazing landscapes.

However, we DID give up on hiking up to Drachensee as we would have to cross the icy mountains in the above picture. In the mountains, nature is always in charge and so it happens sometimes that you have to step back, change plans and enjoy what you can.
P.S. It is also possible to do a circular route if you manage to hike to Drachensee. Then you continue via Ganghofersteig, but only if there is not much snow and ice, otherwise it is dangerous.
On our way down, we found one last viewpoint. If you're interested, here is the full route (20 km) we did.

Eibsee and Zugspitze Viewpoint
Next day, we went to a much slower-paced and shorter hike around Eibsee. But first things first, coffee. Always.
There are many parking lots but those ones at Eibsee are quite pricy. We parked for free, but had to walk longer through the forest.

At the beginning of the hike, it was raining a lot. But the route is okay even in the rainy weather, it is mostly covered by trees except if you walk down to the lake.

The weather was changing rapidly so eventually, we had a very nice day at the lake. The whole route is around 10 km (route here) so nothing major and mostly flat. And you get to see Zugspitze!

Barmsee, Krün
On our last day, the last lake we went to visit was Barmsee in Krün. However, we do have to admit that it didn't offer anything spectacular (even though it was beautiful, still), so we decided to make last minute change of plans and headed to Innsbruck.

Innsbruck

Innsbruck truly surprised me. The landscapes. Wow.
We took a cable car up to "Top of Innsbruck" - Hafelekar (2,334 m) starting in Hungerburg. There, you can also visit the station Hungerburgbahn designed by Zaha Hadid.

Innsbruck is very lively, people seem to be very active - you see a lot of bikers and hikers everywhere. You wonder why?

That's all from Tyrol.
Hope you feel inspired to do some hiking.
Until next ♡
